Smashing Pumpkins bassist D'Arcy Wretzky has said a "bridge is now burned forever" between her and the band, according to frontman Billy Corgan.

The Smashing Pumpkins singer opened up about Wretzky's relationship with the band in an interview with The New York Times.

On the subject, Corgan said, "I think what she did demonstrates why she couldn’t be involved."

He continued, "I was vulnerable and shared things and trusted that there was a reason to give it a chance, despite plenty of empirical evidence that that was not a wise decision."

Corgan then added that the bridge between them is burned "forever."

The bad blood between Corgan and Wretzky came up again after last month when the Smashing Pumpkins announced they would tour for the first time in 18 years.

The band's publicist said that the three members "haven't played a show with D'Arcy Wretzky for over 18 years" and said it wasn't "for a lack of trying."

They wrote, "For despite reports, Ms Wretzky has repeatedly been invited out to play with the group, participate in demo sessions, or at the very least, meet face-to-face, and in each and every instance she always deferred."

Wretzky denied these claims to Alternative Press saying Corgan saying she had been asked to perform was "a complete lie."

"He's never invited me to anything," she said. "In fact, my feelings were a little bit hurt because he did the solo album tour, and he didn't tell me when it started."

Smashing Pumpkins guitarist Jeff Schroeder will join band members Corgan, James Iha and Jimmy Chamberlin on their reunion tour.
