TikTok user remixes Nelson’s laugh from The Simpsons with M83’s ‘Midnight City’

Teo Domani’s track has been liked 843,000 times

Nelson Muntz from The Simpsons has a starring role in a new remix of M83’s “Midnight City” created by a TikTok user.

Canadian producer Teo Domani, who describes himself as the “CEO of mashups”, created the track by taking Nelson’s infamous laugh and transposing it to different keys.

The laugh is then added to the 2011 M83 hit, which is best known in the UK as the theme song of reality TV series Made in Chelsea.

The track gained popularity after it was shared on Twitter, with the original video having now been liked 843,000 times on TikTok.

In response, Domani shared the full-length track on his YouTube channel, in a video titled: “Nelson Travels to Midnight City.”

Shortform video-sharing app TikTok is currently under threat in the United States, after Donald Trump this month signed an executive order that will ban all dealings with the owners of the Chinese-owned social media platform.

Trump’s order claims that TikTok “reportedly censors content that the Chinese Communist Party deems politically sensitive” and may be used for “disinformation campaigns”, including the spreading of false claims related to the coronavirus pandemic.

The president has repeatedly threatened to ban the app altogether, although it unclear whether he has the legal authority to do this.

In response, rapper Kanye West, who is also running for president, has proposed developing a “Christian-monitored” version of TikTok, which he suggested could be called “Jesus Tok”.
