(Kendrick Lamar/TDE)

Just when everyone thought Kendrick Lamar had gone for 'Untitled' and blank artwork on his new album, he's posted the actual album cover on Instagram along with a possible title.

"Don't all dogs go to heaven? Don't Gangsta's boogie? Do owl shit stank? Lions, Tigers & Bears. But TO PIMP A BUTTERFLY. Its the American dream nigga...." - lil Homie," K-Dot wrote, with the emphasis on To Pimp A Butterfly suggesting this could be the album title – possibly a play on To Kill A Mockingbird, a book about an innocent black man being arrested for a crime he didn't commit.

Though the artwork has the style of one of those rap poster collages of the greats, the men depicted are thought to mostly be Kendrick's friends and TDE colleagues.

"Turn the f*ck up lil bro @kendricklamar put me and all the homies on his album cover and I'm f*ckin proud to say I had something to do wit puttin it together," @g_weeder149 wrote.

A host of other Instagrammers were tagged in the artwork, which all seem to check out.

Kendrick stands in the centre of the photo, cradling a child, as The White House looms in the background.

The identity of several other people in the photo remains a mystery however, including the dead judge in the bottom left. It has been suggested this unexplained Kendrick tweet from a few months ago could have something to do with it.

The new album, previously thought to be called 'Untitled' and have a black square as its artwork after K-Dot changed his Twitter pic to one, will be released on 23 March.
