Trending: It's murder for the tragically hip

The music video for the new single by Liars, "No 1 Against the Rush", is the tale of a middle-aged dry-cleaning company employee who drives around Los Angeles by night, murdering fashionably dressed young men (who also happen to be the members of the band) and dumping them in the back of his van, wrapped in clingfilm.

Last month, Jake Gyllenhall appeared in the promo for "Time to Dance" by The Shoes, in which he bumped off various trendy young things in a wintry Dalston. Might this mark the beginning of a new music-video trend: the hipster serial killer? It has a decent chance of catching on. Because let's face it: the thought has crossed all our minds.
