Covering a classic is a notoriously risky business in the music world, as Tulisa has learned after the announcement of her comeback single.

The former N-Dubz singer and X Factor judge will release her take on Shanks & Bigfoot’s 1999 number one “Sweet Like Chocolate” on Friday but, judging by the first reactions to a cringeworthy newly-posted teaser clip it’s going to get messy.

The brief music video preview sees Tulisa ride a jet ski and bite her nails suggestively in the sea amid scenes of a summery pool party. While her fans are celebrating the imminent comeback, many music fans have already taken to social media to brand the return “desperate” and bemoaned her “terrible” decision to remake the garage hit.

Tulisa insists that she has “taken the chorus of an old school classic and written around it”, saying in a statement: “It’s one of the most loved tracks of the Nineties and one of my favourite songs as a child. It was amazing to remake and rewrite a song like ‘Sweet Like Chocolate’, it feels like a good way to come back.”

“Sweet Like Chocolate” will be Tulisa’s first new song since “Living Without You” charted at number 44 in January 2015. The 28-year-old released her debut album The Female Boss two years ago but stepped out of the spotlight after being falsely accused of drugs dealing.
