Lady Gaga shines at MTV VMAs with medley performance and multiple wins
Artist is officially considered a triple threat
Lady Gaga was an undeniable highlight of this year’s (virtual) MTV VMAs.
The pop star took home five awards, including the first-ever Tricon award, which acknowledges artists who are triple threats.
She also received the trophies for Song of the Year, Artist of the Year and Collaboration of the Year (”Rain On Me”).
Yet arguably Gaga’s most impressive achievement was a medley performance of songs from her latest album, Chromatica.
Wearing a variety of outlandish costumes, Gaga performed renditions of “911”, “Enigma”, “Chromatica II”, “Stupid Love”, and “Rain On Me”.
Ariana Grande, who collaborated with Gaga for the hit song “Rain On Me”, tweeted: “Crying @ladygaga... again... u are the most gracious and stunning... I’m so grateful to be a part of this... thank you.”
“My babes again !! love u so much,” she added.
“I live for Lady Gaga,” actor Laverne Cox tweeted, “That is all!”

In a four-star review for Chromatica, The Independent’s critic Alexandra Pollard said the album marked “a return to big, brazen pop” for the star, but also observed themes of reflection, self-doubt and self-reclamation.
