A Whitney Houston hologram will tour the UK in 2020, having been in development for years.

The show will be staged by Base Entertainment, which has worked on hologram productions for the estates of artists including Roy Orbison and Amy Winehouse.

Buddy Holly and Orbison’s hologram tour launches next month, while Winehouse is currently in development.

The Houston tour "will be an incredible show", Seth Faber, SVP of marketing at music publishing company Primary Wave, told Music Week. “So much effort has gone into making the show as authentic as possible. It’s going to be a phenomenal experience.”

In May, the Houston estate signed a multi-million-dollar deal with Primary Wave, meaning the company has the right to use Houston’s name and likeness for advertising campaigns and sponsorships, as well as receiving 50 per cent of royalties from the singer’s music, film and merchandise.

It was previously reported in The New York Times that Houston’s hologram would perform hits like “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)” and “The Greatest Love of All” backed by her original band and backup singers, including her brother Gary.

There is also potential for a Broadway musical, branding deals and an album of unreleased tracks.
