R Kelly addresses sex cult allegations in new 19-minute song 'I Admit'

The rapper also discusses his own history of sexual abuse at the hands of a family member

R Kelly addressed allegations he ran a “sex cult” - and responded to Spotify banning his music from its playlists - in a new 19-minute song called “I Admit.”

Over the course of the lengthy track, the rapper discusses numerous topics, ranging from allegations of a sex cult that involved multiple young women, his illiteracy, and his own history of being sexually abused.

“I admit I am not perfect / I never said I was perfect / Say I’m abusing these women / What the f**k, that’s some absurd sh*t,” Kelly raps on the nearly 20-minute track. “They brainwashed, really? / Kidnapped, really? / Can’t eat, really? / Real talk, that sounds silly.”

The rapper also asks for the definitions of "cult" and "sex slave" - “Go to dictionary, look it up, let me know, I’ll be here waiting,” he sings.

In addition to repeatedly denying the allegations against him, Kelly speaks directly to the parents of the women accusing him and suggests they have an agenda.

Kelly also raps of Spotify’s decision to remove his music following the accusations levelled against him for the last two years.

Under its Hate Content and Hateful Conduct policy, the music-streaming platform banned the rapper from its featured playlists - a decision Kelly criticised in the new song. The platform recently reversed its decision.

“Spotify, took me off they playlist / I admit that I been underrated / I’m not convicted, not arrested, but dragged my name in the dirt / All this work to be successful and you’re bending me because of what you heard,” he sings.

In “I Admit” R Kelly admits that he is not perfect but acknowledges the struggles he’s faced throughout his life, many of which he previously discussed in his memoir.

Referencing a female family member who molested him “from a child to the age of 14,” the 51-year-old also raps about his functional illiteracy, the result of dyslexia, and the children he has not seen in years.

Kelly was acquitted of 21 counts of child pornography charges in 2008 stemming from a video of him having sex with an underage girl. He has since been accused of running a sex cult where he reportedly kept women against their will, according to a Buzzfeed News investigation.

“I admit I’m at rock bottom / And this sh*t has rocked my mind / I’m calling on my hood / Come walk by my side,” the rapper sings.
