Masaaki Suzuki's Bach Cantata series is becoming increasingly pallid. The home grown and imported soloists sing beautifully, the orchestra plays well, and the choir is as pristine as ever. Compared to the vivacity and energy of such diverse interpreters as Herreweghe, Rilling, Koopman or Gardiner Suzuki's approach is curiously cool for such vital material. More passion, please.
