This Philadelphia band's loyal followers have always claimed that, studio-wise, their best is yet to come.
Could Shame, Shame be the end to that wait many are claiming it to be? Certainly, it's the most consistent and coherent Dog album to date, but there's still a suspicion that, though the tunes are memorable in an early Flaming Lips way, the stick-on lyrics and lack of invention mean Dr Dog will never hit the heights of, say, a Wilco or Wayne Coyne's brigade. Close, but the final verdict's in the title.
