More soap-opera: the Man in question is Example himself, and the Evolution involves his hopeful graduation to a more responsible lifestyle, after years of determined dissolution that appear to have brought him little lasting satisfaction.

"Why am I sitting here all alone?" he wonders in "Perfect Replacement", "How do you measure fun?". His former answer, as outlined in "All My Lows" – partying hard, doing loads of drugs, neglecting his partner – is now, according to "Snakeskin" and the title track, firmly consigned to his past. Though I wouldn't hold my breath on that, as Example's obvious delight in sensory experience shines through in his intricate play of syllables and the warmth of his singing voice. His best yet.
