Album: Faithless, The Dance (Nate's Tunes)
The kind of hands-in-the-air house with which Faithless used to fill stadiums sounds so old-fashioned amid today's splintered electronic micro-scenes, and yet they're still capable of producing those moments – when a beat is dropped, only to return with more insistence than before, say – that dance music is supposed to be all about.
You can only hope for a handful of such moments in the course of an album, of course. The rest of The Dance is mostly proficient, sometimes embarrassingly earnest.
