Album: Gilmore & Roberts, The Innocent Left (Navigator)

Katriona Gilmore and Jamie Roberts are – you guessed! – a young English folk duo.

They do do Trad. Arr. but actually they’re more interested in what they can express within the folk idiom with their own writing.

This varies in quality but is mostly pretty witty, sound and engaging, and is supported in all those qualities by sprightly ensemble arrangements.

Shortfalls? Not many. Except that a lack of vocal charisma might tell against the wider kind of outreach.
