Album: Glasvegas, A Snowflake Fall (and It Felt Like a Kiss), (Sony)

There's a pleasing arrogance to Glasvegas, and it manifests itself in their decision to end their first full year as an overground band with a Christmas album.

The sheer, shiver-inducing beauty of this six-track mini-LP is almost more of a shock than their debut. The Crystals-related title of the album, the Darlene Love-inspired "Please Come Back Home", and indeed the whole concept acknowledges Glasvegas' debt to Phil Spector. It's scary to imagine what this band is capable of giving us through 2009.
