If you're prepared to skip where necessary, this double CD of previously unreleased 1970 and 1972 live shows from LA's Inglewood contains genuine Jackson genius among the schmaltz.

You can hear Michael – aged 11 on the first disc, and 13 on the second – develop his mature voice, although there's poignancy in the mock-raunchy talk of "hot foxes" at his high school. There's also real funk on Traffic's "Feelin' Alright" and Sly's "Thank You", plus "ABC" and "I Want You Back".
