"Chrissie" being Hynde and "JP" being JP Jones, some fairground waif half her age by whom she is romantically consumed ("my perfect lover...").

Fidelity! tells the story of their unusual relationship and, by extension, the album's own gestation. They look into each other's torrid eyes and... gruff it out. The model is jangly, bright, melodic rock, à la the Pretenders with added scruff, Hynde's voice taking the bulk of the downstage light. But the atmosphere of grave self-revelation is clearly a joint production.
