Album: Junip, Junip (City Slang)
Junip's second album, although less cloying than singer Jose Gonzalez's solo stuff, still resides in the folktronica zone.
Melodies wash out with expansive arrangements, noodling guitar and flutes, electronic squalls and eddies, echoing drums and softly furred vocals. It can be plodding and takes a while to get going, but also occasionally reaches soaring, festival-fields-at-dusk heights. Worth a listen for the gorgeous "Walking Lightly" alone.
