Close-harmonising sisters, mandolins, lapsteels and, when the songwriting hits the spot, country-pop which – were it given that "polished" production that kills most music of this kind – would sell squillions in those parts of America tourists rarely tread.
Larkin Poe is the new project of Rebecca and Megan Lovell, who, before sister Jessica left, toured and recorded under the name the Lovell Sisters. Elvis Costello loves them and they are worldly enough to include a live cover of Massive Attack's "Teardrop". Watch this space.
