Like a drunken Lord's spectator floored by a cover drive six, I didn't see this coming. Cardiff collective Los Campesinos! have previously erred on the side of twee and irritating, but the Bis-like hyperactivity of their early releases is now only half the story.
They're now a band who can switch from dubstep-influenced downtempo to Spectoresque overkill in a half-second, and are bursting with too many ideas. Singer-lyricist Tom crams Count Basie covers, vodka stolen from the opera and crucifixes into the first verse, and such vivid imagery persists.
