Bossa veteran Valle departs from the hip danceability of his previous work for the label in favour of complex, cinematic arrangements and lounge-friendly motifs that put him back in touch with his inner cheese, summoning up the 1970s pomp of albums such as Garra.

Produced by Daniel Maunick (Bluey of Incognito's son), and mixing busy instrumentals with anthemic vocals and an emblematically Brazilian regard for naffness (squelchy synths, guttural grunts), Estatica is a definite grower. PJ
