The Manchester trumpeter's third album begins and ends with an up-tempo, hard-bop-played-fairly-softly, feel.
The first number, "Music For a Dancing Mind", even suggests Dizzy's "Night in Tunisia" more than Halsall's specialism of rain-streaked spiritual jazz, which is saved for the beautiful second track, "Song for Charlie". Featuring the excellent Nat Birchall on saxophone, this is another deceptively light but lovely record that deepens with every play.
