Allison, at 82 years old, is the elder statesman of just about everything, but in particular the way that country blues, jug and jazz can be fused to tell oblique stories about the ways of the world.

Aptly titled then. And if there are no killer songs on the album, that doesn't mean that Allison's whoopy-di-doo of a voice doesn't still ring nice bells. The Way of the World is produced by Joe Henry, who sits his small ensemble down and lets them follow the Mose. The result is a charming document of hip old age.
