With his daring new combo, Noel Gallagher has liberated himself from the traditionalist shackles of Oasis and made the record he always intended to: an unprecedented futuristic hybrid of dubstep, speedcore and math-rock, with lyrics which charge towards unexplored lexicographical horizons.
Further, he achieves things with his guitar which outdo, in their experimental reach, anything being attempted at the Large Hadron Collider while also emerging as a singer whose vocal cords can literally heal the sick. It's clear now that the hilarious video to "The Death of You and Me" was actually a vicious satire of the dadrock cliché, a coded signal that Gallagher was leaving such trite rubbish behind and taking us on a voyage deep into sonic space. It will take a brave listener to go with him. But go. Please. In God's name. Go.
