Album: Pete Williams, See (Baseheart Recordings)
Williams is best known as the bassist and, more recently, co-frontman of Dexys, playing nice cop – literally – to Kevin Rowland's "burning" protagonist, his gentle voice a counterpoint to Kev's impassioned yell.
On his debut solo album, on which Richard Hawley moonlights, Williams stays within a largely acoustic soul-jazz-folk style, giving See an inevitable Dexys flavour as well as adding up to an eminently likeable record in its own right.
