He's covered other people's songs with full orchestra; now he's doing his own: 14 of them, ranging from the obscure to the not-so, conducted and arranged by John Metcalfe in an elegantly textured, formal but not obtrusive Modern-Romantic mode.

One might ask whether PG is running out of new things to say. Whatever the answer, it's hard to avoid the feeling that New Blood is an exercise in self-dramatisation rather than self-scrutiny. Impressive rather than engaging.
