Radio 2's changed a lot in recent years, of course, but if you switched it on in the bad old days, a band like Polly and the Billets Doux wouldn't sound out of place.
The Winchester jazz-blues-country-folk-whatever quartet, led by Polly Perry (with her husband on drums), take the rough edges off their source genres and deliver a twee sort of nostalgia (all upright bass and brushed snares). It's inoffensive, and falls just inside the right end of the Imelda May/Fairground Attraction spectrum, but ultimately it's still roots revivalism for Wogan listeners.
