Whether Portico Quartet ever were a jazz act is debatable, but they certainly don't sound like one now.
This double album pairs recordings from a European tour last year with remixes of the same material. The live stuff is consistently inventive, with percussive bleeps partnered by snaky melody lines to produce full-on electro-acoustic soundscapes that work as immersive environments more than tunes. Randomness dogs the remixes, but that's standard.
