It opens with a squall of Hendrix-like guitars which give way to boy-girl vocals before the thump of jungle drums swamps everything that's gone before.
This is the sound of Sleepy Sun, a six-piece who filter Jack White's dirty blues through the haze of 1960s California. It could all go horribly hippie, of course, but the lack of over indulgence, the tangible thrill in their own ability and the super-sweet voice of Rachel Williams combine to make this the perfect record for summer 2010. If you're a bit of a hippie like me, that is.
