An excusable marketing exercise in which live performances from the Woodstock stage are paired with the studio album that matches them most closely. Santana, Joplin, Johnny Winter and Jefferson Airplane get the treatment. In the case of Sly, it's the splendiferous Stand! plus the 50-minute set which got a nation of soggy hippies on the good foot, a boisterous call-and-response throwdown which lacks the subtlety of the studio work but is nevertheless wiggy to the max. Sing a simple song indeed. Nice packaging.
