Her first album, which spoke of the raw pain of exile, was acoustic and self-produced: this one “benefits” from a big production team, and the results are predictably less authentic.
But her strong, supple voice remains the same, and the songs are her own: mountain melodies, with lyrics which eloquently evoke the world she has left behind.
