Looking for a new and original sound for the summer?
Then don’t bother with the debut album from Manchester’s The Answering Machine. The fact that the band sound so familiar (think Arctic Monkeys) wouldn’t matter if they didn’t explore such predictable themes (growing up, going out, etc) over an album in which one song could be swapped for another without anyone noticing. Is it intrinsically bad? No. It just isn’t innovative enough to stand out from the indie-landfill crowd.
