Although the Climbers predate the Leisure Society (with whom they share musicians Christian Hardy and Nick Hemming), if you're going to take six years to make a record – as songwriter Tim West has – you're going to pay the price.

So while the Leisure Society's The Sleeper was a folky, friendly album full of lush strings and gentle jams, The Good Ship reveals a dark side to Brighton's Willkommen Collective – its opener taut and tense; its title track a sinister, singalong shanty. Almost worth the wait.
