Guy Clark writes wistful, grown-up, intimate songs about the lives of the American ghost. His genius is in his eye for detail. And the good news is, he isn't dead: he's 70.
The album does exactly what its title says: it pays tribute, in the shape of 30 Clark songs sung by 30 tributaries, some widely celebrated, others less so. Here is a small list: Lyle Lovett, Joe Ely, Rosanne Cash, Suzy Bogguss, Ron Sexsmith, Rosie Flores, Emmylou, Willie, Ramblin'... Good names, good cause. Very enjoyable package.
