Pull the other one. OK, so the gently quirky "New Soul" is sung in English, but the rest of this debut features Yael's fragile voice being charming in both French and Hebrew too. Multi-instrumentalist David Donatien's most important contribution is to make sure things don't get too precious. He adds little flecks of lo-fi noise here and there and generally keeps the arrangements sufficiently ear-catching to lift things above the usual acoustic guitar-led template.
