Thousands of music fans braved erratic weather to watch rock legends The Who on the final day of the T in the Park festival.

Lead singer Roger Daltrey and guitarist Pete Townshend were due to bring the curtain down last night on the event at Balado, Perthshire, in front of a 75,000 sell-out crowd.

Other acts included the former Verve frontman Richard Ashcroft, Scotland's favourite brothers The Proclaimers, and Banff star Sandi Thom. Sheffield stars Arctic Monkeys played for fans in Balado for the first time.

The Proclaimers entertained the crowd for nearly an hour and got one of the biggest roars of the weekend, belting out hits such as "Letter from America" and "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)", as well as tunes from their recent album Restless Soul. The brothers said afterwards that it was always amazing to play a homecoming gig. Charlie Reid said: "This is the third time we have played T in the Park. The people are extremely welcoming, and it's extremely loud."

Police said that there had been no major incidents throughout the course of the day.

Tickets for this year's T in the Park sold out in less than an hour, with 20,000 snapped up the day after the 2005 event.
