The fourth and last installment of the animated Shrek franchise will release an eclectic musical mix on the soundtrack album for Shrek Forever After in 3D in theaters May 21. The soundtrack collection releases on May 18.
The band Weezer covers The Monkees' "I'm a Believer," which appeared in the original film covered by Smash Mouth and Eddie Murphy, who plays Donkey in the films.
The tracks reflect a range of tastes with appeal for everyone in the family, from Lionel Richie to the Beastie Boys to more recent act Scissor Sisters. Also, Puss 'N Boots, played by Antonio Banderas, sings "One Love" and skits from the film are excerpted.
The physical CD will only be available at WalMart stores in the US but it can be downloaded from iTunes or other digital music retailers. Previously, the Shrek soundtracks sold nearly 4 million copies in the US.
Other songs on the Shrek 4 soundtrack include "Top of the World" by The Carpenters, "Shake Your Groove Thing" by Mike Simpson, and "Darling I Do" by Landon Pigg and Lucy Schwartz.
The movie is also known as Shrek 4 or Shrek: The Final Chapter.
