Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax - the leaders of the thrash metal movement - are set to share the stage this summer for the first time as part of the Sonisphere touring festival. Announced June 9, the bands' June 22 show from Sofia, Bulgaria, will be broadcast via satellite to movie theaters around the world.
The Sonisphere tour will mark the first time in history the "Big Four" of thrash metal have shared a concert bill. Beyond a limited European concert schedule - 11 dates total from June 16 through August 8 - no additional concerts are planned for the Sonisphere tour, meaning the history-making broadcast event is likely to be one-of-a-kind.
The June 22 concert will be broadcast to hundreds of movie theaters in more than 30 countries on several continents.
