Arthur D. Little has appointed Paul Ruskin as leader of its new global design and development practice. Ruskin is a vice president at the company and has been a director of its subsidiary Cambridge Consultants Limited since April 1996 and head of its Informatics Business Unit since January 1995.

FTP Software has promoted John Robson to the position of vice president of marketing for the IP Technology Business Unit. Formerly technical director reporting to the chief technology officer, Robson is now responsible for driving the marketing effort worldwide. FTP Software has also appointed Alan Scutt as vice-president for Northern Europe and South Africa. Scutt was previously UK managing director at Banyan.

Online Magic has appointed Simon Cotterrell as head of account services. He joins from Saatchi & Saatchi, Australia. Online Magic has also appointed Steve Devo as technical director, Susan Peachey as commercial director, Oriana Brown as production director and Sophie Greenfield as senior designer.

Sharon Ward has joined Australian software developer Masterpack International as marketing manager for Europe, Africa and the Middle East, based in Oxford. She joins from rival SSA where she spent nearly four years in a similar post after graduating from Nottingham University with a degree in Business and Finance.

Linda Jones, BSc, has joined manufacturing software company ICL MAX International as marketing manager. Jones has more than 10 years' marketing experience in the manufacturing IT sector and has previously held senior positions with MDIS, ASK and MSP.

Global One, the joint venture of Deutsche Telekom, France Telecom and Sprint, has appointed Peter Shephard as the new managing director for UK and Ireland. He will direct the UK business strategy. Shephard joins Global One from AT&T where he was vice president of Vertical Markets and Electronic Commerce.

Financial Objects has appointed Karim Peermohamed as an associate director in the New York office, where he will oversee the group's US expansion. Peermohamed previously worked at Misy's banking software company Kindle for almost three years, where he developed their Mercosur business in South America. He was also senior account manager at IBIS, which was acquired by Financial Objects in 1996.

Origin has appointed Timothy G Lomax as executive vice-president and chief financial officer. Lomax joins Origin from Philips Electronics, where he was director of finance, logistics and information technology for Philips Sound & Vision.

ICL has appointed Alan Gibson as managing director of its enterprises business. He joins from Groupe Bull, where he was on the executive management team and was responsible for all business in Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe and overseas territories. Prior to this Gibson was managing director of Integris UK.

Trusted Information Systems has appointed Mike Horrell as a member of its Information Security Consultancy team. He joins from Zergo.

Unisys Global Customer Services has appointed Joe Walton as general manager and vice-president.
