Mouse and mosquito claim top prize in nature photo contest
German award features a variety of images taken around the world
A picture of a mouse facing a mosquito has been awarded the highest prize in German nature photography.
Klaus Tamm spent several days in pursuit of his picture, lying in wait to capture a mouse feeding in the evening at Romberg Park in Dortmund.
"One evening a mosquito joined one of the mice, obviously intending to tap it for dinner. It was a blessing for the composition but a nuisance for the mouse," he said.
The Society of German Nature Photographers announced his image as the overall winner of the prize, which was open to entrants from all over the world.
Prizes were also awarded for the best pictures across seven categories including mammals and landscapes.
