The contest invites photographers of all abilities to send in the best pictures from their travels in the hope of winning a cash prize and online promotion.
The best entries this week include a close encounter with a humpback whale and a fog-draped Golden Gate Bridge.
“We are looking for images that show us the world: its people, places, and cultures,” says the National Geographic magazine.
“Photos that tell the story of a place and travel moments that reveal what inspires you.”
