NOT ALL attempts to put Shakespeare in a modern setting meet with success, but like West Side Story, Baz Luhrmann's reading of William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet (10pm Sky Premier, right) makes complete sense. It's set in a hip, if crime-ridden capitalist world where Leonardo DiCaprio, who has since become the hottest actor in the world, and Claire Danes, who has not, acquit themselves well as the star-cross'd lovers. But the best thing about this satellite premiere is the way in which it aims to introduce a whole new audience to Shakespeare. In the wake of Hurricane Georges, this week's Raging Planet (8pm Discovery) examines the effect of tornadoes. Focusing on the Storm Prediction Centre in Oklahoma, it investigates these whirlwinds, which kill as many as 80 people a year in the US.
