AS A YOUTH, Sting (right) used to enjoy watching the Newcastle band The Gas Board, which featured not only Bryan Ferry, but also Mike Figgis who many years later directed Sting in Stormy Monday (10pm FilmFour), a moody thriller set in Newcastle. Sting - who, in films such as Plenty and the recent Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, has proved that some rock stars can in fact act - plays a jazz club owner who crosses swords with a ruthless American businessman (Tommy Lee Jones). The impressive cast of this contribution to FilmFour's "Hard Men" season also stars Sean Bean and Melanie Griffith.
Scottish Football Special (6.30pm Sky Sports 1) reflects on a season characterised by the fierce rivalry between the two big Glasgow clubs, Celtic and Rangers, in which the latter, once again, emerged as champions.
