NARESH PURI hears how a small part of Middlesex suburbia has become the heart of Britain's Asian community in Southall Stories (11am R4); as one resident remembers, ending up there was the result of following his Islamic upbringing and taking the "right path" at a roundabout.

In the first of Giants of Soul (9pm R2), the American singer Daryl Hall talks through the life and workaholic times of James Brown (right), spins the hits and recalls how it might all have ended in nowheresville if it wasn't for the gospel ballad "Try Me".

Night Waves (10.45pm R3) meanwhile has a discussion about Sikh art and literature and the story of the Marquis de Sade's women.
