The Queen, Patron of the Church Urban Fund, accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh, visits St Cuthbert's Church, Castle Vale, Birmingham, to meet people involved in community projects. The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh visit the new Birmingham Children's Hospital (to be named Diana, Princess of Wales Children's Hospital, Birmingham), Steelhouse Lane, Birmingham; visit Jaguar Cars Limited, Castle Bromwich, Birmingham, and tour the new production facility; visit Turnhouse Community Centre, Birmingham, to meet members of the local community; and meet people working in local Prince's Trust projects; The Queen records a message to be broadcast on the "Vale FM" Radio Station. The Prince of Wales, on behalf of The Queen, holds an investiture at Buckingham Palace. Princess Margaret opens the new Magnetic Resonance Imaging Scanner at the Princess Margaret Hospital, Windsor, Berkshire.

Changing of the Guard

The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment mounts the Queen's Life Guard at Horse Guards, 11am; 1st Battalion Welsh Guards mounts the Queen's Guard, at Buckingham Palace, 11.30am, band provided by the Grenadier Guards.
