Satellite and Cable: Pick of the Day

I DON'T know what it would cost to assemble the cast from Marvin's Room (8pm Sky Premier) now, but in 1996 it was still feasible. In this comedy drama, receiving its satellite premiere tonight, Diane Keaton and Meryl Streep play a pair of sisters who fall out when their father has a stroke. Leonardo DiCaprio plays Streep's drop-out son, incarcerated for attempted arson, while loitering in the background is Robert De Niro.

When she first broke through in the 1980s with hits such as "Like a Virgin", many critics predicted that Madonna wouldn't last. Part of the reason she has endured as an icon beyond the age of 40 is that she has constantly been able to reinvent herself. Showing in VH- 1's "Madonnarama" season, Madonna: The Blonde Ambition Tour (9pm) showcases the first ever appearance by the now celebrated conical bra.
