CRICKET FANS whose appetite has been whetted by the recent World Cup can enjoy two helpings of live Cricket (4pm and 7.15pm Sky Sports 1) as Sussex take on Northamptonshire.

In a barren summer for football - there is no major tournament of interest for fans of the European game between next year's Euro 2000 Championships and the 2002 World Cup. However, the women's game is given a welcome showcase in Football: Women's World Cup - Germany vs Brazil (8pm Eurosport), a glamorous fixture from the first round of the competition.

Consolation for non-sport fans comes in the shape of Performance (11.30pm Sky Cinema) starring James Fox and Mick Jagger (right). They play a London hoodlum and a fading rock star who bond in the sort of Notting Hill flat Julia Roberts never set eyes on.
