Catherine Byron, born in Belfast in 1947, specialised in medieval literature at Oxford. She is now a freelance writer based in England. This poem is from her first book, Settlements, now reissued by Loxwood Stoneleigh with Samhein and three new poems in a volume entitled Settlements & Samhein ( pounds 6.95).
