Sujata Bhatt was born in 1956 in Ahmedabad, India, and educated in the United States. She now lives in Bremen with her German husband, and translates Gujarati poetry into English. Her publications include Brunizem and Monkey Shadows (both published by Carcanet). This poem appears in The New Poetry, an anthology published by Bloodaxe at pounds 7.95.
