Much Ado about Nothing (Queen's, 071-494 5041, to 25 Sept). Mark Rylance and Janet McTeer in a dazzlingly rethought production.

The Madness of George III (Lyttelton, 071-928 2252, back in repertory). Alan Bennett in good form; Nigel Hawthorne in the performance of his life.

Father's Day (West Yorks Playhouse, 0532-442111, to Sat). Unsentimental study of senility, superbly played by Richard Mayes and Dilys Laye.

City of Angels (Prince of Wales, 071- 839 5972, to 2 Oct). Celluloid and film- studio intrigue combine in reprieved Broadway musical. Irving Wardle
