THOUGH THEIR records have never quite cut it, Rocket from the Crypt (right) are one of the most awesome live acts on the circuit. Fronted by the beefy Speedo, they're an all-action, all-dancing ensemble who probably account for most of the hair-gel sales in California. This is as in-your- face as rock'n'roll gets. Don't miss the party.

University, Cardiff (01222 230130) tonight; Mean Fiddler, Dublin (00 3531 475 1070) tomorrow; Garage, Glasgow (0141-332 1120) Sun

Silver Sun embark on a national tour to promote their new tune-loaded album, Neo Wave, which should spawn more singles to follow the chart successes of "I'll See You Around" and "Too Much, Too Little, Too Late". With their huge guitar riffs and layers of harmonies, these Midlanders offer a refreshing take on classic 1980s American rawk with a tongue-in-cheek dab of Queen's pomposity and a nod to the power-pop excellence of Cheap Trick.

Junction, Cambridge (01223 511511) Sun
